Welcome from Jovis Leigh Howison

As summer is here, I welcome you all to the Street Photography Assignments Exhibition. I am delighted to be able to organise this event on such a productive scale, where photographers from all over the world can present their photographs through such a fulfilling experience.

I conceived the genesis of this project when the UK entered its second lockdown in October 2020, with the aim of completing it over 12 months.

These images have all been made following the 52 Assignments: Street Photography book by Brian Lloyd Duckett (published by Ammonite Press) and curated by him for this showing.

My intention was always to create an environment of co-learning and collaboration by supporting the development of photographers through the most challenging of times during the pandemic, so that they could continue to be creative and practice their art.

In order to showcase their achievements and bring the project to life, I have published a photo storybook of their favourite images and provided exposure to some of their best work in this exhibition.

As you will see, this show will introduce you to many talented street photographers, ranging from beginners to experts who have made this project what it is.

You will also learn about their influences and inspirations during the past year, and what it means to be a part of the group

I humbly hope that our display will hold your attention and interest you. There is also a special section featuring the street photography works of GCSE photography students from Eden Park High School, as I am a huge advocate of supporting the youth and education.

Organising this exhibition has given me great pleasure and I am very grateful to everyone who played a part in it, our sponsors and especially to FUJIFILM House of Photography for hosting us.
