Sam Boswell is a photographer based in Reading, UK, working across London and Europe.
He began taking photography seriously while travelling for work, heading out alone on evening and night-time walks through unfamiliar cities. Those walks still shape his practice. He is drawn to brutalist architecture and to the meeting points of old and new, where modern structures press up against historic streets.
Sam is colour blind, and reads a scene through light, tone and form. An engineering background adds to this: he sees the city as a system of structures and flows. His photographs centre on the place itself, its buildings, surfaces and light, with people often part of the scene rather than its subject.
