Steve Devane is a London-based photographer who has spent the past fifty years working as a designer alongside photographers and artists. Today, photography offers him a way to slow down and discover new perspectives on the city. Following a period of serious illness, he rediscovered film and, with it, a more considered way of working.
Steve is drawn to places, objects and details that might otherwise go unnoticed: the rusted door of an ageing beach hut, the solitude of a hospital corridor, or the quiet character of an unfamiliar street. His photographs reflect a growing interest in looking beyond the obvious, finding beauty and meaning in overlooked corners of the everyday, and a desire to reveal the character of unfamiliar places and the people who inhabit them.
